We are seeking an Operations Excellance Manager to lead the Skyline Operations Excellence (OPEX) culture developed in house with proven lean manufacturing tools and process improvement techniques to achieve excellence on a nationwide scale.

Under the direct supervision of the Division Manager, the OPEX manager will lead the plant's CI initiatives designed to eliminate waste and non-value added activities and improve performance in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Inventory. This position will directly influence the OPEX strategy for the company and act as a resource to the Division Manager on the selection and project management of Lean initiatives.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • This position will lead the plant leadership team in developing the plant's overall Lean plan in alignment with the Division Manager and other OPEX Managers.
  • The OPEX Manager will lead Lean projects for improvement results that can be leveraged across plants, functions, and product lines.
  • Drives the implementation, development and sustainability of improvement boards throughout the plant.
  • Develops and executes a training plan for associates, supervisors and managers to ensure the integration of Lean Manufacturing into the company culture.
  • Ensures that the mentioned training, tools, best practices and resources are available to employees at all levels and that are being utilized appropriately and effectively.
  • Lead all reporting and root-cause analysis. Lead or coach focused improvement activities and teams to improve results like safety, quality, delivery, cost and inventory. Conduct root-cause analysis and coaching to resolve production issues.
  • Observe Flow, eliminate Waste and analyze with Value Stream Mapping to optimize plant operations.
  • Share and coordinate all initiatives with other OPEX Managers to ensure consistency.
  • Facilitate and co-facilitate various Kaizen events and coach supervisors to lead their own teams.
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Hands on experience using modern Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement methods (LEAN, Six Sigma, TPS, SQDCI, etc.).
  • Certified Lean Manager or Six Sigma preferred.
  • At least three (3) to five (5) years of experience leading Lean Transformations in manufacturing operations, educating others on Lean principles and deployment planning.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process improvement techniques, preferably in the building industry.
  • Strong project management, organizational, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thought processes to develop, recommend and implement strategies and programs that address plant and corporate objectives.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills up and down the organizational hierarchy to include corporate offices.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and influence on those with whom there is not a direct reporting relationship.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict effectively and problem solve.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and applicable CAD software applications.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under conditions of multiple deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Ability to travel on occasion for training purposes and/or to corporate offices.
