We are seeking a First Shift Supervisor to lead one or more departments in a manner to achieve production goals with minimal overtime, costs within guidelines and first-time quality.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises one or more work teams
  • Ensures that all workers perform their duties with attention to safety
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties
  • Inspects production at fixed and variable intervals for compliance to blueprints and applicable codes
  • Inspects production for cosmetic defects
  • Plans flow of materials and labor requirements through department and ensures optimal physical layout
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules
  • Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met
  • Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications
  • Identifies non-compliance production issues and pursues corrective actions
  • Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew
  • Maintains time and production records
  • Conducts tailgate meetings and utilizes other forms of group communication to keep employees informed
  • Ensures that messages are converted for non-English speaking employees
  • Other duties may be assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities                                               

Directly supervises 5-9 employees in the Floor, Electrical, Metal, Shelling, Decking, Trim and/or Final Repair/Final Finish Departments. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include ensuring a safe environment, fostering positive employee relations, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Manages efficiencies while adhering to quality standards.

Education and/or Experience                                             

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of four or more years of directly related and progressive experience including demonstrated competency in multiple functions/departments.
