We are seeking an Operations Excellance Manager to lead the Skyline Operations Excellence (OPEX) culture developed in house with proven lean manufacturing tools and process improvement techniques to achieve excellence on a nationwide scale.

The Operational Excellence Manager directly influence the OPEX strategy for the company and act as a resource to the Division Manager for all improvement initiatives. The primary responsibilities of the Operational Excellence Manager are to identify, plan, and deliver key business results related to process efficiencies, customer satisfaction, and employee development across all functions. Responsible for the development, training, and deployment of Lean principles at the site level. This position will work closely with all levels of the organization to ensure that best practices and continuous improvement are a part of our culture. He/she will work with management, customers, vendors, associates and internal support organizations to drive change.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Organize, plan and deliver team training based on Skyline OPEX principles throughout the site.
  • Design and implement lean processes and systems following the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle
  • Define measurable Safety-Quality-Delivery-Cost-Inventory (SQDCI) goals and objectives for lean activities.
  • Apply Lean Six Sigma tools & methodology to deliver objectives established by leaders, key stakeholders and the needs of the business.
  • Build and facilitate multi-discipline impacting short and long term lean initiatives.
  • Teach, coach and mentor process owners and leaders on how to sustain results.
  • Identify and evaluate resource requirements to support lean implementations.
  • Execute company strategy associated with implementation of lean systems, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Participate directly and indirectly in all kaizen events as well as events with other plants.
  • Drives the implementation, development, and sustainability of improvement boards throughout the plant.
  • Ensures that the mentioned training, tools, best practices and resources are available to employees at all levels and that are being utilized appropriately and effectively.
  • Assist with all reporting related to continuous improvement activity and root-cause analysis.
  • Observe product flow, conduct time studies, and develop VSM or Spaghetti diagrams as needed to eliminate waste on the production line.
  • Share and coordinate all initiatives with other OPEX Managers to ensure consistency.
  • Energize, coach and facilitate cross functional teams, while fostering an environment of trust, camaraderie, team work and results.
  • Find more ways to let the voice of our operators be heard and ideas for improvement acted upon to improve our company in the eyes of our customers.
  • Be the example to leaders across our company, helping them to see through adversity, deal with ambiguity and follow a vision to new and improved processes.
  • Maintain a relentless focus on removing waste to add capacity and give the business room for growth.


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Hands on experience using modern Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement methods (LEAN, Six Sigma, TPS, SQDCI, etc.).
  • Certified Lean Manager or Six Sigma preferred.
  • At least three (3) to five (5) years of experience leading Lean Transformations in manufacturing operations, educating others on Lean principles and deployment planning.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process improvement techniques, preferably in the building industry.
  • Strong project management, organizational, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thought processes to develop, recommend and implement strategies and programs that address plant and corporate objectives.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills up and down the organizational hierarchy to include corporate offices.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and influence on those with whom there is not a direct reporting relationship.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict effectively and problem solve.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and applicable CAD software applications.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under conditions of multiple deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Ability to travel on occasion for training purposes and/or to corporate offices.
