Plant Maintenance Helper

Position Summary:

The maintenance helper will assist maintenance technician(s) in installing, maintaining and repairing equipment and machinery. Their duties include: handing tools, supplies and materials to other workers; preparing the work area; and cleaning the work area or equipment, preventative maintenance, plant projects, and assist with urgent plant repairs as needed. This role will learn to use various tools and equipment as well as be exposed to high altitudes for plant repairs. Daily routine will require following company safety practices and procedures.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

         Assist with equipment troubleshooting and repair of production machines

         Interpret equipment manuals to perform required maintenance and service

         Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facility

         Assist with plumbing maintenance and deep housekeeping of critical equipment areas

         Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties

         Provide support in the tool crib as needed

         Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work area/tool crib

Skills and Abilities:

         Ability to communicate respectfully with all staff as well as conduct daily activity with a high degree of ethics

         Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and endure the pressure of meeting daily shipping goals

         Ability to read and write reports, manuals, and help write basic equipment preventative maintenance/repair procedures as well as create applicable check lists.

Education and Experience

         High school diploma/GED preferred

         A minimum of 1-year experience working in a fast-paced environment.

         Basic math skills

         Ability to communicate in English effectively both orally and in writing.

Working Conditions/Job Environment

         Minimum lift requirement 40 lbs. on a regular basis.

         Frequent stooping and bending, lifting, and walking.

         While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

         The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, climb ladders or crawl.

         Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
